Welcome to Brambly Hedge Day Nursery

Babies

Our purpose built baby unit “Little Acorns” is the perfect environment for your baby to thrive in a homely loving and safe environment.

Pre School

Our approach to learning and teaching is through child centred play and education. We have a fully equipped large open space nursery where children are encouraged to explore.

School Care

With a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, imaginative play and physical activities, our staff will engage with your children before and after school.

Why Brambly Hedge ?

Named after the the famous Children’s books read to the owner Sue Quincey by her Nana, Brambly Hedge prides itself on delivering a loving, caring, fun and stimulating Nursery for all Children.

Purchased in 2005 and re-developed twice, we offer a unique setting that truly is your child’s “home from  home”.   The team here are passionate about ensuring every child gets a great start to their education ahead of starting school, and thats done through play, exploration, partnership with Parents and engaging staff.

We could go on and on,  but we think its best you come and see for yourselves! We offer an open door policy so pop in whenever you wish to discuss your needs, and maybe stay for a cuppa as we show you around.  96% of people viewing Nursery in the last 6 months have placed their Children with us.  We think that speaks volumes.

EYFS

The Early Years Foundation Stage is a framework created by the Government for children up to the age of five.  It sets out a standard way of delivering early years education focusing on six key areas of learning around which activities should be based.

Here at Brambly Hedge we fully support and follow the EYFS framework and your Child has a Key Worker who tracks their progress through it.  With Journey Books and good Parent/Carer communication we think we excel at contributing to your Childs educational development.

Play in and out!

We have a large building with extensive open outdoor and indoor areas that give Children the ability to move around freely and explore.  All rooms are equipped with modern toys and supporting equipment to facilitate learning through play. We encourage play outside even when its raining!

We also take Children on trips to the Library, book store for story time, the forrest, butchers, fruit & veg shop , the vets and even Christmas Tree hunting!

Working together

From extensive experience we know that a child can develop much more where an active partnership between Nursery and home is present.

We therefore actively want you to be involved for those years your child is with us.  We encourage you to join sessions and we often have coffee mornings for Mums and Dads to also come and spend time in Nursery with their Children. We also run a few social gathering like Nursery Graduation for Children leaving Nursery to “Big School”, money raising for charity and our Christmas Performance and BBQ.

We offer many forms of communication allowing you to speak to us about any issues or concerns you may have.  This includes preferably our open door policy, but also facebook messenger, email/calls, parents evenings, comments books, newsletters, website or of course talking to any of our staff.   Any delicate situations are dealt with privately and you can be assured these are kept between the 4 walls as all staff have a confidentiality clause in their contracts.

All in all we want you to be part of Nursery almost as much as your child is.  The more we all put in the more your child benefits!

Values that matter

The DfE have recently reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all Nurseries to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.”

The government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy, and these values have been reiterated by the Prime Minister in 2015. At Brambly Hedge these values are reinforced regularly. Click more info to find out how.

Protecting what matters

Nursery is secured by an external 24/7 CCTV system and also cameras in the public areas of Nursery.  All doors to rooms with Children in have secure locks to which only full time staff have the code.  All staff have to leave their mobile phones in the Staff Room and are not allowed to use them in any of the rooms.

Our computerised system helps to maintain records where safeguarding issues may be present and all staff are briefed on any situations daily. Signing in and out of Children is compulsory as and when they enter/exit the building.

All our data is covered under the Information Commissioners Office with whom we are registered.

Food glorious food

Nursery prepares fresh food daily and provides breakfast, snack, lunch and tea for full time children or those attending before and after school.

All food is cooked by our in house cook in a dedicated kitchen using ingredients that are fresh and where possible from small local suppliers such as butchers, bakers and fruit and veg shops. We create unique menus that provide nutrients and protein for Children and we are expert at ensuring they get their 5 a day by hiding it so well they never know!

We serve the meals in a fun way and one that encourages children to serve themselves and other giving them great skills for the future. In fact, most children are also involved in the preparation of vegetables with the staff.

What Our Parents Say

Our Rooms

The setting is broken in to 4 key areas that fit with the development and growth of a child.  Although we have dedicated rooms we operate a free flow policy that allows Children to mingle and explore with others as part of their development.

All rooms are kitted out with age appropriate learning equipment and activities in line with the curriculum and EYFS.  We have invested a significant amount of money and time in making our rooms stimulating and interesting for Children.
